As a Cleric you may often got rejected from groups as there was already a Cleric there healing. Having a 30+ Spirit Master and Templar. From our PoV its easier for us to find a group as a Spirit Master than it is for us. Many groups or tanks have their trusted healers and if you don't find the group that is specifically looking for a healer you might get shot down more often than you would think. As a Templar you can found Groups left and right because not many people like to tank in Aion. As a Spirit Master people wanted the buffed drop rates from boss mobs so we were well desired. You can say that a Templar can be substituted for a Glad or Chanter. However from our experience Templars do a much better job maintaining threat as well as managing pulls. Making them slightly more desired than you would think.
If you have a competant Cleric and Sorc, an assassin can tank. We usually end up pulling agro off of level(aion powerleveling) 48 templars as it is. Not to mention blinding burst when things get hairy. Don't believe a templar is worth sitting around for 2 hours shouting for. We'd take the chanter glad, or 2 glads in place any day. Had a glad tanking SR last night and did a better job than most temps, no chanter involved.
Its rare to spend more then 10 minutes to put together an SR group and 90% of the time its cuz were looking for a sorc. Hell we have even run SR without CC just dual or triple aggro mobs on to me. But its very exhausting for both us and the cleric. And SR isn't really a short instance.

Talking from experience here, at 27-ish in the abyss, we ran into a full blue geared gladiator on our SM, this gladiator was killing mobs in mere seconds, no longer than 7 or 10 seconds. Our DoTs couldn't even take effect when we grouped for the elmos attacking us in the abyss. You can got aion online gold from the mods you killed.
when we got our templar to 31 and got her in full Daevanion and socketted full crit, our damage sky rocketted and mobs died before we lose 100 or 200, at the time, 5700+ HP. We also parsed damage and DPS in groups and we always came top except for the occasional equally or better geared but higher level sin or ranger or AoEing equally geared gladiators in Aion.
Sorcs only started to do more damage as we neared 40 and told them to AOE and not CC. So a geared templar will level faster than a geared gladiator due to close damage but with much less downtime than a gladiator. Another fact is the endless groups you get in. Also tanks control the pace of the groups, if you learn to speed up your runs expect FAST leveling(aion powerleveling) only limited by your group's mana and total DPS.
Just remember the solo experience is on an very good geared templar as we are very gear dependant. We scale very good with gear so we found out we do better than equally geared classes. In PvP, we really feel bad for gladiators as they only start to bloom at 50, but even then they have trouble against certain classes. We hope the next patch fixes that for them.

Grinding 5-6 toons up to 30 to get each piece seems a little redundant, and boring. We think you have to grind the same class over and over too if im not mistaken.
You don't have to grind the same class over and over you can get a Daevonian Light to convert the peices into whatever you need depending on what your putting it on so if you have Cloth and need Plate you would do it this way.
You only need to grind 5 don't know where your getting 6 from 5 peices of armor. Weapons you get wearing all 5 peices. If you going for a twink why not and yes its worth it to have the full set if you upgrade it that set some say can take you all the way to 50, others say 43, but for sure it is good until 40. Weapons not so much there is better crafted ones at 33.
If your going to do it leveling(buy aion kinah) sins, and glads go faster then say cleric, SM wasn't bad neithor was Chanter, but Cleric OMFG bleeding eyes. Overall the Dev set is for some people and not for others we did it and it's worth it, and yes its a great starter set for your twink.
