Only DSS and LDP against plan for Kosovo
In a marathon session of Serbia Parliament dedicated to policy concerning Kosovo after opinion given by the International Court of Justice, Serbia Government got support by a part of the opposition as well. Nevertheless, opposition deputies took the opportunity to request responsibility of the state team for the failure before the ICJ claiming that after that decision all moves at the UN General Assembly are risky.

Until closure of this issue and judging by the ongoing debate deputies of the DSS and LDP are against while deputies of the SRS said they would vote for continuation of struggle for Kosovo. The SNS said they 'shall not be against interests of the citizens'.
The report about the court process was submitted by the Chief of Serbian legal team Dusan Batakovic who said that 'the ICJ has not replied to the crucial part of the set question which is whether Kosovo Albanians had right to secession' and that 'that represents legal failure for Serbia' because 'we have not got support in the situation when the international law was violated to the damage of Serbia'. Serbia Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said during his first addressing the Parliament that 55 countries are 'just a step away' from recognition of Kosovo but nevertheless 'Serbia Government is making utmost efforts to prevent that'. As he said 'the task of the state bodies shall be to secure majority at the UN General Assembly for the resolution by Serbia which shall open door to finding a compromise solution'.
'After that it shall be clear that the ICJ has not given Kosovo Albanians right to secession from Serbia', Jeremic said.
Beginning of the session was marked by a debate between Jeremic and the LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic who requested from Jeremic to turn to new policy while Jeremic requested from Jovanovic to 'suggest the policy he is speaking about'. Jeremic explained that 'the Government has decided not to sue countries which have recognized Kosovo because it has been concluded that the ICJ would proclaim itself incompetent'.
'Such law suits have their political consequences in bilateral relations. That is why we decided to ask for advisory opinion', Jeremic added.
The SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic said that the opinion by the ICJ is not a legal failure, but failure of Serbia. He called on Serbia Parliament to vote for amendments filed by the SNS to the proposal made by Serbia Government because he would 'not like that Serbia is divided after this session'.
The DSS deputy and former Serbian diplomacy chief Slobodan Samardzic said that 'the proposal by the Government that Serbia goes with a resolution on Kosovo before the UN General Assembly a suicidal act that the executive power is trying to involve the Parliament in'.
'It is almost unrealistic that the General Assembly makes decision opposite the ICJ opinion', Samardzic said and repeated request by that political party that that the Parliament is actively involved in lading of policy towards Kosovo. He also insisted on filing law suits against a country or a group of countries which recognized unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.
