The EU Council of Ministers has agreed that the suspension of the visa regime for the citizens of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia comes in force as early as on December 19 this year. The initially set date was January 1, 2010. That was a unique stance by the EU ambassadors at the Committee of the permanent state representatives, as Beta was told by sources from the EU Council of Ministers.

As pointed out the decision should be confirmed on November 11 at the session of the European Parliament and then before the end of the month at the meeting of home and foreign ministers of the EU. According to Beta sources such stance was taken at the proposal by Slovenia.
Serbia Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said in Brussels today while addressing the Foreign policy board of the European Parliament that ‘Belgrade intends to apply for the EU candidacy until the end of the year’ and called on Brussels again to remain open for integration of the whole of the West Balkans.
He also said that ‘Serbia is aware of certain reservations existing over that issue in the EU’ and the he ‘understands the reason why it is so’ but that he ‘believes that the time has come to move forward’.
According to his words no pause must be made in the EU enlargement.
The Chief prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal said during his visit to Belgrade that his report ‘shall not contain anything negative regarding cooperation by Serbia’ with that court. Serbia President Boris Tadic said during meeting with Brammertz that ‘the authorities in Belgrade are intensively searching for the remaining two war crimes suspects Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic’.
During meeting with Serbia Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic Brammertz said that he was satisfied with cooperation by Serbia with the Tribunal. Cvetkovic told him that ‘successful finalization of cooperation with the Hague Tribunal is one of Serbia Government’s priorities’.
