France is strongly in favor of canceling of visas to Serbia as soon as possible,” Jean Francois Terral told Beta news agency on Sunday, and added that he believed progress had been made in solving the technical aspects related to the issue, while “what remains can be done”.
“I would add that French President Nicolas Sarkozy told Serbian President Boris Tadic very decisively that France supports abolishment of the EU visa regime for Serbia’s citizens,” the ambassador was quoted as saying.
Terral reminded that during Tadic’s recent visit to France, Deputy PM Bozidar ?elic met with French ministers for immigration and European issues.
“Technical details were considered then, and France stressed how much in favor of the visa abolishment it is.”
Terral also told the news agency that a French-Serbian chamber of commerce would be set up to offer support to French companies doing business in Serbia.
